Day 1: The Foundation (Sukhasana)
Focus: Posture alignment & Breath awareness.
Welcome to your first day! Before we move, we must learn to be still. Today is about finding a comfortable seat and connecting with your breath. This simple act is the root of all yoga practice.
How to do it:
- 1. Find your seat: Sit cross-legged on your mat. You can sit on a folded blanket or cushion to lift your hips (this helps keep your back straight).
- 2. Align the spine: Imagine a string pulling the crown of your head upward. Relax your shoulders down away from your ears.
- 3. Hand position: Rest your hands on your knees, palms facing up (for energy) or down (for grounding).
- 4. The Breath: Close your eyes. Inhale deeply through your nose for a count of 4. Exhale slowly for a count of 4.
- 5. Duration: Stay here for 5 to 10 minutes.
Pro Tip: If your knees hurt while sitting, placing Yoga Blocks under your knees can provide great support.
